Introduction Carbon Nutrition Inc. ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Carbon Nutrition Tracker mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. Please read this policy carefully.

Information We Collect Information you provide directly:

  • Account information (email address, display name)
  • Fitness and workout data you log (exercises, sets, reps, weight)
  • Nutrition data (food entries, calorie and macro information)
  • Caffeine intake logs
  • Personal goals (calorie goals, protein goals, caffeine limits)
  • Reminder preferences and settings
  • Natural language text input used to log workouts, meals, and caffeine

Information collected automatically:

  • Device type and operating system version
  • Device identifiers and session tokens (used for authentication and security)
  • App usage and interaction data (e.g. features used, button taps)
  • App crash reports and performance diagnostics

Notification Permission The App requests permission to send push notifications to deliver workout reminders and other alerts you configure. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

Microphone Permission The App optionally requests access to your device's microphone to enable voice-to-text input for logging workouts, meals, and caffeine. Audio is processed on-device using your browser or OS speech recognition — we do not record, store, or transmit your voice data. Microphone access is never required; you can use the text input at any time without granting this permission.

The App offers an optional AI-powered natural language logging feature. When you use this feature, the text of your log entry (for example, "chest day, bench 225 for 4x8" or "chicken and rice, 500 calories") is sent to OpenAI, L.L.C. (openai.com) for processing.

What is sent: Only the plain text of your log entry. No account information, email address, or other personal identifiers are transmitted.

How it is used: OpenAI parses the text to extract structured data (e.g., exercise sets/reps, calorie and macro estimates, caffeine amount). The parsed result is then saved to your private account within the App.

OpenAI data practices: OpenAI does not use data submitted via their API to train their models by default. For more information, see OpenAI's Privacy Policy at openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.

Your consent: This feature requires your explicit consent before activation. You may grant or revoke consent at any time in the Account settings. If you do not consent, you can still use the App with manual data entry — no data will be sent to OpenAI.

Camera Permission The App may optionally request access to your device's camera for future features such as food scanning or barcode lookup. Camera access is never required to use the core features of the App. We do not capture, store, or transmit photos without your explicit action.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the App
  • To personalize your experience and track your fitness progress
  • To send reminders and notifications you have configured
  • To improve the App's features and performance
  • To monitor app health, diagnose crashes, and fix bugs
  • To respond to your support requests
  • To detect and prevent fraud or unauthorized access

Data Retention We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data — including workouts, nutrition logs, caffeine entries, reminders, and settings — is permanently deleted within 30 days. Crash logs and diagnostic data are retained for up to 90 days and then automatically purged.

Account and Data Deletion You may request the deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. There are two ways to do this:

  • In-app: Go to the Account tab and tap "Delete Account." Your data will be permanently removed within 30 days.
  • By email: Send a deletion request to carbonnutritionfitness@gmail.com with the subject "Account & Data Deletion Request." We will process your request within 30 days and send a confirmation.

Upon deletion, all personal data including workouts, nutrition logs, caffeine entries, reminders, and settings are permanently removed from our systems.

Data Sharing and Disclosure We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share data in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: Trusted third-party services that help us operate the App (e.g., cloud infrastructure, authentication), bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal requirements: If required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Carbon Nutrition Inc. or our users.

Data Security We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.

Your Rights Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Data portability

Third-Party Links The App may contain links to third-party websites (such as Shopify for order management). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.

Changes to This Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
