The Real Reason Carbon Savage Exists
Built by a 7PM lifter who was tired of still finishing his pre-workout halfway through deadlifts.
I'm Mike. I started Carbon Savage because I was tired of being the guy still finishing his pre-workout halfway through deadlifts.
I trained after work. 7PM, sometimes later. Hyrox prep stacked on top of regular lifting. The kind of sessions where you need to be locked in from the first warmup, not 25 minutes in.
Every night, same problem. Mix the scoop, chug 12 ounces of water, walk into the gym with a stomach that felt like a water balloon. By set three I was still sipping. The caffeine didn't hit until I was already cooling down.
I tried everything. Smaller doses. Dry scooping in the parking lot. Switching brands like a maniac. Then I tried runner's gels. Looked promising on paper. But it was just sugar and electrolytes in a pouch. No real caffeine, no pump ingredients, no focus stack. Built for marathoners, not lifters.
So I started building my own.
I knew what a 5PM lifter actually needed. 250mg of caffeine that landed before the warmup ended. 2,500mg of betaine to hold output across the session. Taurine and L-theanine for clean focus without the anxious spike. Enough sodium to handle the Hyrox days when you're cooking. All of it dosed for a lifter, packed into one 40g gel stick. Rip it open, squeeze it in, train.
The iterations were ugly. Bad textures, weak doses, flavors I won't talk about. Then I hit the version I have now.
First time I ran it before a leg session, I was locked in by my second warmup set. No water balloon stomach. No mid-workout sipping. No guessing.
I started handing it to training partners. Then their friends. The same thing kept coming back. "It hit before I needed it." "I don't miss the shaker." "This is what dry scooping was trying to be."
